Jacob Arnold studied art, design and engineering at the University of Michigan and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts.   At the Illinois Institute of Technology, Jacob studied environmental management with courses in sustainability, energy & economics. Jacob recently earned an MBA from Iowa State University. He was on the organizing committee and 2009 chair of the U.S. Green Building Council - Iowa Chapter.  Jacob currently works at Terracon Consultants as an Environmental Scientist and Business Development Manager in addition to serving on the board of the Iowa Environmental Council.

Andy Braaten is Branch Manager of the Des Moines & Omaha branches of KONE Elevators.  Andy graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.  Andy’s background at KONE has been focused on providing clients with Eco-efficient elevator and escalator solutions.  KONE is a member company of the Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments and is committed to reducing the energy consumption of its products by 50% by 2010.  He is Chair of the National Elevator Industry, Inc. Area Code Committee for both Iowa and Nebraska.

Pat Higby is an Energy Educator for the Center for Energy & Environmental Education at the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated with a degree in Physics Teaching from UNI. Her expertise is developing and delivering education programs related to energy efficiency and renewable energy for K-12 and university students as well as adults. She is currently team teaching two classes on sustainability at UNI. She also serves on the boards of the Iowa Renewable Energy Association and Iowa Power Fund.

Matt Krieger is an Architect with Neumann Monson Architects in Iowa City.  He leads Neumann Monson’s sustainability team, devoted to providing guidance on projects and office policy and furthering the firm’s environmental goals and development.  Matt graduated with honors from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s of Architecture.  He is licensed in the State of Iowa and is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design + Construction.  In addition to his professional duties, Matt has guest lectured on environmental building design for audiences of all ages and demographics. 

Tom Oftedal is the Assistant University Architect at Iowa State University where he is actively involved in ISU’s Live Green Initiative. Tom is in his second year on the board and serves on the chapter's membership committee. He received his degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.

Bruce Simonsen is a LEED AP and a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in mechanical engineering.  He is currently am a Mechanical Project Manager for the Waldinger Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa and has 20 years experience working in the construction industry in Iowa, Colorado, and California.  

Jennifer Voorhees is a Registered Interior Designer in Iowa & LEED AP. As a Past President and Past VP of Government & Regulatory Affairs, she is a professional member of IIDA Great Plains Chapter.  Jennifer is a Professional member of IFMA Central Iowa chapter; serving as  a Past President and current Co-chair of the Web-site Committee.  As a member of USGBC Iowa chapter, Jennifer is a new Board member and  a member of the Programs & Educational Committee. Currently she also serves as the Chairperson of the Iowa Interior Design Examining Board. Additionally, she is a member of COSC, and participates on the Programming Committee. As an Iowa State University Alumni, Jennifer is a previous Temporary Professor for the College of Design.

Katherine Young is a Graduate of The University of Northern Iowa. Katherine is active in the sustainable building life cycle community in both Iowa and Nebraska. In addition to her role on the current board, Katherine has also served the U.S. Green Building Council Iowa Chapter as a chapter organizing committee member, a founding chapter Board Member in 2006, as well as working on various committees. Currently representing chapter members in the category of Product Manufacturer, Distributor, Katherine currently works at Cort Business Services as their Iowa/Nebraska Territory Sales Manager and is the Past President of the International Facility Management Association Central Iowa Chapter.

Jerod Gross has a Bachelors of Science Degree from Iowa State University in the field of Civil Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Iowa. He has 14 years experience as an engineering consultant working on roadway and site development projects. He is currently a Project Manager at Snyder an Associates, Inc. His experience includes Civil site development, road design and concrete pavement design. His LEED project experience includes building projects at State Institutions and Universities. He is an active member of American Public Works Association and American Society of Civil Engineers. He earned his LEED accreditation in July of 2008.

Scott Bowman is a Principal with KJWW Engineering Consultants, PC and represents almost 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and overall project management. His specialties include direct digital controls, energy efficiency, sustainable design, LEED, and systems commissioning. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, BD+C. He also currently Chairs the Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of the Program for Women in Science and Engineering, both at Iowa State University.

As the director of the Project Delivery Group at KJWW, he is charged with developing and maintaining KJWW's commissioning, sustainable and LEED services and many other corporate initiatives for the entire firm. He speaks regularly on sustainablity at national conferences around the country and provides regular training within the firm on multiple subjects. KJWW is a firm of approximately 430 with 9 offices (two international) providing structural, mechanical, electrical, technology, energy modeling, commissioning, acoustics, and medical equipment design services for the built environment.

Jason is president of Advanced Designs and Energy Consultants Group in Anamosa. His organizations focus on green design and build projects as well as retro fit existing structures for energy efficiency and energy independence. He has been practicing green design build for 15 years and renewable and large scale conventional energy production projects for 4 years.
He is widely involved in the community and educational system and actively promotes sustainability, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
Jason is one of the 7 founding members of the Eastern Iowa Branch of the Iowa USGBC Chapter and currently serves as Branch Representative.

Bruce is a licensed architect and Project Manager at OPN Architects in Cedar Rapids. As OPN's Sustainability Champion he organizes and leads periodic LEED Study Groups for both OPN employees and others who have expressed an interest in obtaining the AP Credential. He is currently working on 7 LEED registered projects including the Cedar Rapids Public Library which is seeking Platinum Certification.

He is often requested to speak to civic and non-profit groups on sustainability and serves on the Indian Creek Nature Center Sustainability Committee and the Board of Directors of Prairiewoods, an Eco-Spirituality Retreat Center.

Bruce is one of the 7 founding members of the Eastern Iowa Branch of the Iowa USGBC Chapter and currently serves as chairman of the Branch Leadership Group.
