Advocacy Committee: Advocacy Committee: The advocacy committee organizes to address local and state issues related to sustainable building practices or procedures in the State of Iowa. We advocate for green building practices on all relevant public policies, incentives and legislations. We will promote LEED as the standard for public and private green building design in Iowa. We will work to inform the local Chapter, as well as, the National USGBC on state-wide issues related to advocacy matters. Communications Committee

The goals of the Communications Committee are to facilitate the flow of information to membership and public regarding Iowa Chapter news, events, and sustainability related workshops across the state; to increase the visibility of the Iowa Chapter locally and nationally; and to field/coordinate press or media inquires. The predominant outlets of communication are through the Iowa Chapter's website, monthly newsletter, and website calendar. Finance Committee

Finance Committee: The primary goal of the Finance Committee is to work with the other Chapter Committees to establish and maintain a business plan for carrying out the chapter's strategic plan and financial strategy within available resources. The Finance Committee is responsible for managing and maintaining the finances of the Chapter along with fund raising, cash flow management, income and expense management plus budgeting and growth initiatives.

Membership Committee

Membership Committee: The mission of the membership committee is to proactively and effectively communicate the benefits of membership, recruit new members and promote the continued participation of the membership in the USGBC Iowa Chapter. The committee shall encourage potential new members to join at chapter events, appropriate related venues, and by other available means. The committee shall encourage and assist the development of chapter branches in geographically- appropriate areas of the state in order to improve the viability of USGBC Iowa Chapter and ensure program access to the membership.

Sponsorship Committee

Sponsorship Committee: The mission of the sponsorship committee is to secure new sponsors for our chapter and to bring awareness of our organization’s purpose, mission, and vision to potential sponsors, which include individuals, businesses, and organizations in the state of Iowa. The committee will develop and maintain relationships with current and perspective sponsors. The committee will ensure that monetary donations are being implemented for the good of the chapter and in compliance with the chapter’s mission statement.

Programming and Education: The mission and goals of the USGBC Iowa Chapter Programming and Education Committee are to carry out the Chapter's Annual Plan with respect to educational programs and other events. These include: monthly Branch meetings, LEED workshops, member recruitment and recognition, Continuing Education opportunities and possible fund-raising events. The committee meets monthly (every second Tuesday of the month). Committee members must be current chapter members. A total time commitment of between 3 and 10 hours / person/month is anticipated. Green Schools Committee

The goal of the Green Schools Committee is to promote the greening of schools - new or existing – to make an impact on student health, test scores, teacher retention, school operational costs and the environment.
